In my mind's eye, the concept of physical shopping will eventually become obsolete sooner than later, paving way for a more Digitalized Future, where one does not need to leave their dwelling in order to buy something. This brings up a couple of questions, What would all the retail space be used for? and what would incentivize someone to leave their home in order to buy something at the mall in such a future?... The answer? A custom-tailored Digital Shopping Experience for each visitor, that merges the Mall's physical environment with a Digital realm Thus creating an Augmented reality worth the trip. While adding to the remaining square footage to provide housing.
